Tower Due presents "Music in Motion"
Flute and saxophone new music duet, Tower Duo, presents “Music in Motion” on Thursday, February 7th at the OSU Urban Arts Space at 7pm. “Music in Motion” is a multimedia experience with electronic sounds, video, and live improvisation that features newly commissioned music creatively exploring the idea of motion in music physically, metaphorically, philosophically, historically, politically, programmatically, and more. The program will include works by living composers Daniel Harrison (Cincinnati), Laura Harrison (Cincinnati), Linda Kernohan (Columbus), Will Redman (Baltimore), Michael Rene Torres (Columbus), Evan Williams (studied in Cincinnati and Bowling Green), and Tony Zilincik (Columbus). Tower Duo, whose members are flutist, Erin Helgeson Torres and saxophonist, Michael Rene Torres, began in 2007 as flute and saxophone ensemble based in Columbus, Ohio that specializes in creating engaging musical experiences with an interest in performing and premiering contemporary works by emerging composers. This free concert is sponsored by the Johnstone Fund for New Music. Tower Duo is represented by their fiscal sponsor, the Columbus Ohio Discovery Ensemble, whose current season is assisted with a project support grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
