American Religious Sounds Project
The American Religious Sounds Project aims to provide new resources for documenting and interpreting American religious diversity by attending to its varied sonic cultures. In collaboration with local religious adherents and communities, we produce original field recordings of the sounds of religious practice across a wide variety of sites and spaces. Our public-facing website includes a searchable digital sonic archive and multimedia gallery exhibits on particular sounds, communities, and themes. Community center installations and community-based field recording workshops are planned for the future. We are always looking for new community collaborators.
